No Bad Hair Days Blog reader Tiana asks: My hair is naturally curly. Over the years of dyeing and other at home projects my hair has thinned out drastically. So i cut it with hopes of making it look fuller. It’s taking forever to grow and needless to say, it still looks thin.
I am trying Nioxin treatments to see if they will help. I want my long fuller look back! Can i still get extensions?? if so what kind? My hair is naturally curly, and I also like to wear it straight sometimes. I would like to be able to wear both styles. Please advise. I know extensions can be costly so I really would like it done right for the look the way i want.
Pro 10 Ambassador Stylist O’Kela Neveaux says: Are you still chemically processing your hair in any way? Most damage to the scalp is self-inflicted – generally by too tight braids, ponytails and weaves; the abuse of chemically over-processing; or just the lack of properly stimulating and maintaining the hair and scalp.
When my clients wonder whether their hair ever get thicker, I also always ask “what kind of hair do your parents have?” Heredity can play a major role in what kind hair you have, and not much can change that.
My suggestion to you would be to start off will a fall wig where the front of your hair can be left out so you can blend it for a natural look in any style curly or straight. You can take it off at night so you can continue to treat with the Nioxin and condition your own hair and scalp regularly. More »
Hair Dress Through the Ages is a tongue-in-cheek video about historic hair styles that makes the point about how silly trying to be trendy can be. Incredibly, it is distributed by the State of Georgia, Department of Education. Citizens’ tax dollars, hard at work. We bring it to you just for laughs, of course. :>)
In the African-American community, hair styles are a complex and constantly evolving reflection not only of fashion, but also of cultural and political values.
The Detroit Freepress reports that African Americans spent $3.9 billion in 2007 on hair care products and services, according to Ken Smikle, president of Target Market News, a Chicago-based black consumer tracking firm.
While anything goes in terms of styles, weaves, braids, and Pro10 hair extensions are popular because they are easy to maintain. They also don’t require the use of damaging chemicals, like straightening and other styles which can cause damage to natural hair.

Like anyone, Michelle Obama has good hair days and bad hair days. Her hair’s been seen pressed and shiny, she’s had weaves and it appears that she often has hair extensions added to her hair. She’s worn it every way but curly and every strand is being scrutinized – not just by black women, but by the media.
Magazine and newspaper articles have been written about her hair. Slide shows run on blogs and mainstream media websites. Talk show hosts interview her hairdresser.
Writing in the online magazine Salon, Erin Aubry Kaplan, asks: “… A reality check: in this alleged new era of racial enlightenment, how would we see Michelle if she switched to braids, twists, curls or dreads, if she looked more like the black person she is?”
Given Mrs O’s demanding schedule, we recommend that she have her stylist use Pro10 Hair Extensions made with Ultima Protein Hair. It’s got all of the good qualities of human hair, and none of the bad. It won’t frizz, droop, or lose its set. And because it comes in so many colors, lengths, and textures, she can chair her hairstyle as often as she changes her outfits.

Chinue asks: I have purchased Brandy signature collection Pro 10 Yaki hair extensions for braiding. Can I dye this hair?
Pro 10 Ambassador Stylist O’kela Neveaux: Pro 10 Hair Extensions made with Ultima Protein Hair comes in a wide range of colors. If the store you purchase the hair from doesn’t have the color you want, you can try ordering online or mixing two colors together to create another color.(example a #1 mix with a #2 makes #1b)
If the color you are looking for is that unique then try using a semi permanent rinse. You may have to go a shade darker to come out more exact. Just remember dying extensions can be messy. Do prepare with that in mind and make sure you do a test strand.
